Baileys Irish Cream Hot Chocolate Recipe
Preparation:
- Preparation Time: 7 Minutes
- Cooking Time: 0 Minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 shot Baileys Irish Cream (to taste)
- 45g Milk Chocolate
- 1 Cup Of Milk
- Marshmallows (large toasting marshmallow used here)
Method:
- To make our Baileys Irish Cream Hot Chocolate, first add a small saucepan onto a low heat on the hob. Put in enough Milk for one cup of Hot Chocolate and heat slowly until small bubbles start to form around the outside of the saucepan. You do not want to heat your milk any quicker otherwise it will boil and create a horrible skin on top.
- When you start to see the small bubbles, add in your Milk Chocolate and stir until it is melted. Now you can add your generous amount of Baileys Irish Cream (to taste) and mix together. Take your Milk off the hob and pour into your glass or mug. In our video below we have topped our Baileys Irish Cream Hot Chocolate off with a large toasted Marshmallow however you can add whatever topping you would like.
- If you are toasting your own Marshmallows at home pop a Greaseproof paper lined baking tray under the grill and keep an eye on the Marshmallows as they only take a few seconds to brown.

How To Toast Marshmallows At Home?
There are a few ways we have found to successfully toast marshmallows in your kitchen rather than over a barbecue or campfire.
- Toast marshmallows using the grill: The safest way is to line a baking tray with Greaseproof paper and place the Marshmallows you will be using upright onto it. Then put the baking tray under the grill and keep an eye on the Marshmallows until the tops turn a darker brown. Once the Marshmallows have started to brown there is a fine line between toasting and burning with this method so I’d recommend watching the whole cooking process. Using Greaseproof paper means you can easily transfer the toasted marshmallow into your home-made Hot Chocolate afterwards. This method toasts the top part of the Marshmallow whilst leaving the bottom still dense to melt into the Hot Chocolate itself.
- Toast marshmallows using a gas hob: The next method uses an open flame so younger hot chocolate fans will want to get an adult to help them with this part. If you want to toast Marshmallows using a gas hob, you will need to put a large Marshmallow onto the end of a metal skewer, light a low flame with the gas and hold the skewer and Marshmallow an inch away from the flame. This method allows you to get an all-round toast much like using a barbeque would, however you will only be able to toast one at a time.
- Toast marshmallows using a blowtorch: If you are an avid cook and have a blowtorch handy then you can add the Marshmallows into your homemade Hot Chocolate first. Then again hold the blowtorch with the flame an inch away from the cup. This last method is the fastest way to toast your Marshmallows.
