1. Wrap Chic
Guildford, The Friary, North Street, Guildford, GU1 4TY.
Wrapchic is one of the most recent additions to the Guildford Friary Centre food court and will most certainly become one of the most popular places to eat in Surrey. They offer a mix of Indian and Mexican food, but like nothing you have ever tasted before. Forget Indian takeaway, Wrapchic offer fresh, light and easy to eat alternatives so you can still enjoy Indian flavours in a grab and go lunch.
Their menu is exciting and something you haven’t seen anywhere else. The signature burritos are made with Naan Breads rather than a tortilla wrap filled with pilau rice and your choice of Chicken Methi, Lamb Kheema, Paneer Masala and more. You can get Indian Nachos that are poppadoms, Masala fries with an incredible spicy mayonnaise and Parathas filled with chicken tikka and salad rolled in a crispy wrap.
2. The Olive Tree
Sutton Green Road, Sutton Green, Guildford, Surrey, GU4 7QD.
The Olive Tree in Sutton Green is a dog friendly pub with an à la carte menu and if you’re a seafood and fish fan, this is one of the best places to eat in Surrey. You can sit in front of the fire and order one of their open sandwiches at the bar, fillings include: poached salmon and lemon mayonnaise, steak mushroom and french mustard and hot brie and bacon.
Or you can head into the restaurant for a selection of comforting seasonal dishes that include seared scallops, chorizo and a pea mint puree, beef and Guinness pie with puff pastry and chocolate orange bread and butter pudding.
3. The Talbot Hotel
High Street, Ripley, GU23 6BB.
Ripley’s The Talbot has been in the village for over 500 years and is a picturesque hot spot for weddings and special occasions. Not only that, the restaurant and afternoon tea makes it one of the must visit places to eat in Surrey.
The afternoon tea comes with warm scones, fresh cream and a rich chocolate cake. If savoury is more your thing then the Talbot’s oozing and warm black pudding scotch egg is not to be missed.
4. La Barbe
71 Bell Street, Reigate, Surrey, RH2 7AN.
La Barbe is the place to eat in Surrey if you want authentic French food. You can try dishes such as curried mussel casserole, veal carpaccio and Chocolate and banana mille-feuille.
5. Shepherd and Flock
22 Moor Park Lane, Farnham, GU9 9JB.
The Shepherd and Flock in Farnham is the iconic pub on the middle of the roundabout of the same name and is probably one of the most recognisable places to eat in Surrey. After just undergoing a refurbishment in 2019, the pub is a good stop off for home cooked food, real ale and the best Bailey’s Crème Brûlée.
Try the standard pub grub, a very cheesy shepherd’s pie and an 8oz steak or something a bit special, the halloumi burger or grilled mushroom with goat’s cheese.
6. Gatton Manor
Standon Lane, Ockley, Nr.Dorking, Surrey, RH5 5PQ.
Gatton Manor is anything but a traditional golf clubhouse. If you want to play a full 18 holes and then be treated to a 5 star lunch then Dorking’s Gatton Manor is one of the best places to eat in Surrey.
There aren’t many places that you can enjoy a whole bowl of mussels with sourdough toast or a hearty seafood chowder full of sizeable scallops after a game. Mains include a succulent rack of lamb and a confit duck leg. If that wasn’t enough you can end your meal with a rich banoffee pie cheesecake with caramalised bananas.
7. La Meridiana
Ockham Road South, East Horsley, Surrey, KT24 6QU.
La Meridiana has been serving Italian food in East Horsley for 20 years now and has recently launched a brand new menu. Starters are huge sharing platters of cured meats, buffalo mozzarella and artichokes and crab meat and mango salads
Then prosciutto wrapped scallops and venison with black cherry; the mains are generous in size and indulgence. So if you’re looking for places to eat in Surrey, La Meridiana may be the one to try!
8. The Queensbury Coffee Shop
Barker and Stonehouse, Ladymead, Guildford, GU1 1DL.
You’d be wrong to think the Queensbury Coffee Shop at the top of Barker and Stonehouse in Guildford just sells lattes and croissants. The boutique cafe also sells light lunches including healthy fruit smoothies and roast pepper flatbreads. However the main event at the Queensbury is their banana, nutella and cream waffles. If you have a sweet tooth, this is the place to eat in Surrey!
9. Jeita Lebanese Cuisine
50 - 52 Chertsey Street, Guildford, GU1 4HD .
Jeita in Guildford is one of the places to eat in Surrey that will convert you to a new style of food! You need to try Lebanese Cuisine.
You’ve had falafel, halloumi and lamb before, yes, but here you can pick as many dishes as you want - hummus, feta, spicy salad, deep fried chicken wings, spicy sausages, chargrilled chicken, sea bass... need more convincing? Think Spanish tapas but better.
10. King William IV
83 The Street, West Horsley, Surrey, KT24 6BG.
The King William IV in West Horsely has an extensive cocktail menu including espresso martinis, cosmopolitans, gin spritz and a large beer garden you can drink them in, complete with a bouncy castle!
In terms of food, the King William is top for pizzas when it comes to places to eat in Surrey. Their homemade pizzas include jalapenos, salami milano, pepperoni, ham and there is even a tuna one. However if you want to stick to traditional pub grub, don’t miss the pork tenderloin.
11. Jackson and Rye
219 High St, Guildford GU1 3BJ.
When you walk into the Jackson and Rye, it’s like walking on to the set of Mad Men, you feel like you instantly need to order an Old Fashioned cocktail. They are all about “All Day American Dining” so it’s not just suave steak dinners and oozing molten chocolate cakes but the Jackson and Rye is one of the places to eat in Surrey for a great breakfast. You can even order a vegetarian one with avocado and halloumi.
If you love ample American food, why not try their popcorn chicken and chipotle mayo, truffle hush puppies, brisket croquettes and crunchy chorizo prawns.
12. The Barley Mow
Tilford Green, Tilford, Farnham, Surrey, GU10 2BU.
Right in the heart of the Surrey Hills, The Barley Mow in Tilford is the place to eat in Surrey when you’re out for a walk in the countryside and want a traditional comforting pub lunch.
Try their signature seafood chowder and warm scotch eggs or share a garlic stuffed boxed baked Camembert before finishing it off with an individual cheesecake.
13. Dog and Pheasant
Haslemere Road, Brook, Surrey, GU8 5UJ.
Opposite the cricket green in Brook, the Dog and Pheasant is a pub you’ll want to keep coming back to. One of their main features you cannot overlook when searching for places to eat in Surrey is their Wednesday Night Grill.
The chef’s cook up a huge spread of steak, sirloin, rump, ribeye and fillet on the roaring open fire at the side of the bar. If seafood is more your thing, you can get grilled scallops, black tiger prawns and yellow fin tuna steak.
If it’s a special occasion you can pre-order an even bigger cut of meat to go on the grill including Cote de Boeuf, 22oz T-bone Steak and Chateaubriand.
14. The Squirrel Inn
Hurtmore Road, Hurtmore, Godalming, Surrey, GU72RN.
The Squirrel Inn in Hurtmore is a kitchen that never stops innovating. Not only does their food taste great but it’s the place to eat in Surrey that’ll also look good on your Instagram!
Try their pork belly or king prawn laksa for mains and don’t miss out on their panko breadcrumb brie wedges.
15. So Asia
69 High St, Camberley GU15 3RB.
So Asia is all about Korean BBQ and is one of the places to eat in Surrey that you cannot miss. You can cook prawns, chicken and squid on individual bbqs on your tables, then pair it with kimchi, lettuce and hot sauce and keep going until you’re full.
If BBQ isn’t your thing, try their authentic all you can eat Asian buffet with everything from salt and pepper squid, chilli chicken, satay, peking duck and spring rolls.
