University Of Warwick Holds Free Summer Party Festival For All Students

What at the Warwick Summer Party?
In the summer of 2014, Warwick SU hosted the Warwick Summer Party, a free festival for all students on University House Field. With fairground rides, zorbing, refreshments and face painting on offer, students were able to enjoy performances by Foxes, Nick Mulvey, By The Rivers and, headliners Clean Bandit.
Alongside the main stage, Warwick SU opened the Coffee House stage, a smaller stage featuring student artists and acoustic sets from touring university musicians. Warwick University’s student radio station was on hand to broadcast live coverage throughout the day.

Clean Bandit
Headliners of Warwick University’s Free Festival were Clean Bandit. Jordan and Lauren caught up with them after their performance and spoke about how their unique mix of classical and electronic music took them straight into the mainstream.
“We’ve been playing together for about 6 years, been friends for ages. We then put on a club night at University and performed there. [We] then started making music videos for our songs which got attention on YouTube“

Foxes
Second act on the main stage at the Warwick University Summer Party was Foxes. Talking to Lauren she says she loves playing to University crowds.
“I love playing unis because everyone is just pissed, it’s just great! Everyone is celebrating, it’s nice. I never had anything like this [at uni].”

Zane Lowe
To finish off the Warwick University Summer Party, Zane Lowe of BBC Radio 1 (now Beats 1, Apple inc) DJs for the crowds.
Talking to RaW 1251AM, Warwick University’s student radio station Zane describes what it was like interviewing Kanye West, “I feel very fortunate to still be enjoying [the radio] more than ever before… the Jay Z, Kanye, Eminem trilogy really set us up.. I just sort of let him sit back and have his moment”.
